Nido – the nest

The group for children under three

When a child is first separated from their parents, they need to feel as secure as possible in their new environment. This phase is critical to fostering a sense of security and easing the child’s transition from home. Our mission is to offer the child a nest (Italian: “nido”) in which they feel safe and from which they can take assured steps into an exciting new world.

The Montessori materials and our teachers, all of whom are trained in the Montessori method, support the child in all areas, including aspects of the daily routine. At this age, the child receives gentle support as they learn to perform certain activities independently, such as getting dressed and eating. This affirms to the child that they can achieve a great deal on their own, which builds up confidence in themselves and the world around them.

Children up to three years old can join Nido if their place of residence is Frankfurt. Each group is made up of 10 children, led by two members of the teaching staff who look after the children in an environment where both English and German are spoken. The transition to nursery school generally takes place at the start of the school year, in consultation with the teachers, and is subject to the availability of free places.
