Architecture

The ibms campus consists of three buildings from different architectural periods:

  • A historic Art Deco villa (1906) – listed as a protected landmark
  • An elegant extension from 1961
  • A functional modern building from 1972

Together, these buildings form a unique architectural ensemble that combines historic character with practical learning spaces.

Modern, purpose-built learning spaces

In 2019, the ibms moved into a new building which underwent a complete refurbishment to create a modern, high-quality learning environment designed specifically for children. Every classroom was carefully designed to meet the developmental needs of the respective age groups, ensuring that spaces are both functional and inspiring.

Our facilities combine contemporary design with Montessori principles: light-filled rooms, age-appropriate furnishings, thoughtfully arranged materials, and clearly structured learning areas that promote independence and focus. Each environment has been intentionally prepared to support concentration, movement, collaboration, and quiet work.

At ibms, the physical environment reflects our educational philosophy — modern, child-centred, and built to support meaningful learning every day.

The ibms Country House in Sinntal

Complementing our city campus in Frankfurt, the ibms country house in Sinntal provides a unique off-campus learning environment surrounded by forests, meadows, and open landscapes.

Children visit the country house regularly — starting from kindergarten age — for class trips, workshops, and project-based learning experiences. These visits allow students to spend extended time together outside the usual school setting and create memorable shared experiences.

The country house enables learning in a calm and inspiring natural environment, offering children the opportunity to slow down, observe, and discover the world around them.

Learning in Nature

At the Sinntal country house, learning extends far beyond the classroom.

Time in nature encourages independence, creativity, and collaboration, while also fostering curiosity and practical problem-solving. Through outdoor activities, group projects, and exploration, children gain valuable hands-on experiences that support both academic learning and personal growth.

Staying together in a natural setting also strengthens social skills, resilience, and a sense of community.

The country house is therefore a valued extension of ibms — a place where children can explore, reflect, and connect with the natural world in a meaningful way.
